MQI Coaching Institute

The MQI Coaching Institute is an opportunity for math coaches and supervisors to learn best practices and leverage resources from our team at Harvard University, so that they can replicate our positive results in their own school or district. 

Who should register:

Those interested in learning more about mathematics instructional coaching including:

• Math Instructional coaches of all experience levels

• District, school, department, or teacher leaders focused on math curriculum and instruction  

What participants gain from the Institute:

• In-depth working knowledge of the Mathematical Quality of Instruction Observation Rubric and how to leverage it to improve math instruction
• An understanding of the principles of effective coaching and how put them into practice
• Practical resources and tools to guide a structured process for facilitating purposeful coaching focused on observation and feedback
• Dedicated time to practice and apply the model so you are ready to implement more effective professional learning and coaching in SY 2026 - 27

 Key details:

• Dates: July 7, 2026 - July 30, 2026
• Format: Virtual with a combination of live (2 hours per webinar) and asynchronous/self-paced learning experiences (~1 hour pre-work per webinar)
• Live Webinar Schedule: Every Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 - 3:00PM EST. Recordings and all content available to participants online for one year.
• Institute Focus:
  • The Mathematical Quality of Instruction (MQI) observation rubric and how to use it as an effective coaching tool
  • The MQI Coaching model and hands-on experience using the MQI to guide teachers’ growth
• Price: $999 per participant or $899 each for groups of 2+. Early bird pricing $899 per participant. Options to pay by credit card or invoice.
  • Cancellation policy: you may receive a full refund, minus a $50 processing fee, if you cancel on or before 30 days prior to the start date
  • Payment must be received in full before the start of the Institute. In certain cases, if full payment has not yet been received, acceptable proof of a purchase order may be used to gain access to the course until payment is processed.
• Certificate of completion: Participants who complete all components will receive a certificate for 24 contact hours from MQI Coaching

• Scholarships Available: Anyone is welcome to apply for a scholarship to the 2026 MQI Coaching Virtual Institute. If we have more applicants than funds available, priority will be given to coaches or instructional leaders in mathematics working in public K-12 schools in the United States where there is limited funding for professional development, and those who have dedicated time to work with teachers to reflect upon and discuss instruction (outside of instructional time) in their day-to-day schedules. Apply here.
