# Current Research

MQI Coaching was developed through years of research into [rubric-based coaching ](https://prod-cepr.drupalsites.harvard.edu/developing-common-core-classrooms-through-rubric-based-coaching)and [video-based math professional learning.](https://prod-cepr.drupalsites.harvard.edu/exploring-methods-improving-teachers%E2%80%99-mathematical-quality-instruction) Research is a core part of our model, and we continuously refine our work based on what we learn and test out novel ways to expand the uses of our work.

### M-Powering Teachers

Together with our partners at the University of Maryland and Stanford, the team has designed a machine learning-based feedback tool called M-Powering Teachers (M stands for machine.) This tool using natural language processing to analyze verbal classroom interactions and provide formative feedback to teachers. Our research is exploring how to leverage machine learning to help coaches more efficiently give impactful feedback to teachers on their math instruction. (And through [Math Out Loud](https://edunlp.stanford.edu/projects/math-out-loud), our partners are exploring the role this work can play in multilingual classrooms).
