Custom Virtual Training for Coaches

MQI Coaching experts from Harvard University customize the content of the MQI Coaching Institute for your school or district’s needs. In addition to the customized training, participants can opt in to receive tailored feedback and support through ongoing professional development throughout the school year.

The virtual, customized training will focus on the Mathematical Quality of Instruction (MQI) rubric, a math-specific observation rubric, and how to use it as an effective coaching tool. The curriculum provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the MQI Coaching model and hands-on experience using the MQI to guide teachers’ growth. The training is geared toward individuals who provide feedback and support for mathematics teachers.

After completing the training, participants will have:

  • A working knowledge of the MQI rubric
  • An effective coaching model that can be adapted to fit your context
  • Concrete next steps for implementation and rollout
  • An overview of the research that led to the development of MQI Coaching
  • Access to the MQI video library
  • Access to ongoing professional support throughout the year

“I love using MQI coaching to narrow the focus [of discussions about classroom instruction] with a specific scoring tool to reflect on teaching practices based on evidence only.”  –Math Coach

“This was the most well-thought out and organized professional development I have ever taken. I think I have grown more as an educator in the past 3.5 days than I have at most professional developments I have ever taken.” –Teacher Leader
